Reports from Rotterdam confirm that Feyenoord Rotterdam central defender, Kaj Ramsteijn, has put pen to paper on a contract extension that will keep him at De Kuip Stadion until the summer of 2014.
The 21-year-old’s previous contract was due to expire by the end of the 2011/12 campaign.
The young stopper arrived at the Rotterdam giants earlier this year, in the summer transfer window, after making 25 appearances for SV Excelsior. The promising youngster played seven matches for De Stadionclub before an injury forced him to miss the Dutch
top tier action.
After signing an extension to his ongoing contract, the 21-year-old expressed happiness and revealed that the contract extension has given him great motivation.
“I am pleased to sign contract extension, especially considering my injury. I have played thus far this season well and the new contract proves that. Even though I mostly played on my natural position, I would certainly love to contribute more to this club.
It is a great motivation”, Ramsteijn said while talking to the media.
The 21-year-old, who is a product of Feyenoord youth academy, has managed to impress many in Rotterdam following his good performances at the back.
Martin van Geel, the Rotterdam giants technical director, also praised the youngster and admitted that the 21-year-old will emerge as one of the best central defenders in the seasons to come.
“Kaj was educated at Feyenoord in his youth days. He has shown that he continues to evolve. He is a good defender with a good mentality. We are confident that he will recover rapidly from his injury and would make useful contribution in the final months
of the season”, Van Geel said.
Although the young stopper has played impressively in all seven matches this season, his performance against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Heracles-Almelo-c39520 at Polman Stadion on August 21 surpasses every other.
However, Ramsteijn tore a cruciate ligament in his left knee and is expected to remain sidelined until March 2012. He would be hoping to return to the pitch at the earliest and make useful contributions for his side.
