The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 player has insisted that his side must secure maximum points in the remaining Eredivisie matches if they are to finish in the top four.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam are currently placed fifth in the league table, trailing the Eredivisie leaders, AZ Alkmaar, by five points. With seven matches left to play in the 2011/12 campaign for each side, it seems unlikely that the Rotterdam giants will go on
to become Dutch champions at the end of the season.
Regardless of the bleak situation, the Rotterdammers head coach, Ronald Koeman, has urged his side to perform at their best in the remaining games of the ongoing term.
“We have talked and we know that If we win all our matches in the coming weeks, we will go close. I am not talking about becoming champions or to finish fourth, third or second. We just need to go hard and bag maximum points”, Koeman was quoted as saying
to the media.
The former Barcelona player has denied that his side is feeling any kind of pressure, but has asserted that Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 and AZ would certainly be feeling the heat.
“Pressure? I don’t think so. But I guess Ajax, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281, Twente and to some extent AZ would be feeling it. We just play from game to game. Our remaining games are not the easiest, but certainly not the hardest. We must achieve good results until the end of the
season, and then we will see where we finish”, Koeman concluded.
In the remaining seven matches, the Rotterdam giants will lock horns against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Heerenveen-c40463 respectively.
Koeman would be hoping that his side secures maximum points in the remaining action of the season to finish in the top four Eredivisie sides and at least earn direct qualification to UEFA Europa League.
Feyenoord had a poor 2010/11 campaign under the leadership of Mario Been. Despite sitting in the bottom-half of the table for much part of the season, they eventually managed to grind out good results after the winter break and finished at the 10th
spot in the table.
