The Rotterdammers technical director Martin van Geel insists that his side is not interested in luring the Club Brugge striker to De Kuip Stadion, though, he did not comment on his side’s interest in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joris-Mathijsen-c19242.
Reports in Dutch and Belgian media were indicating that Feyenoord Rotterdam are taking keen interest in signing Club Brugge striker, Bjorn Vleminckx, before the ongoing summer transfer window slams shut.
However, the Rotterdammers technical director, Martin van Geel, has mooted all speculations that were linking his side with the Belgian ace.
The 26-year-old, who started his professional career at Beveren in the 2002/03 season, joined the Belgian Jupilier League side in the summer of 2011 after spending two seasons at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/NEC-c40018 Nijmegen.
The tall striker, who enjoyed his best performance while wearing the NEC colours in the highest echelons of Dutch football, netted an impressive 31 goals in 64 league appearances. However, he failed to feature regularly for Club Brugge, and has yet to cement
his place in the starting XI at Jan Breydelstadion.
Since the 2011/12 season ended, Belgian media has been suggesting that Vleminckx would be leaving his current club this summer after failing to enjoy regular playing time.
In addition, reports in Dutch media suggest that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 would be tabling a bid in the coming days to acquire the 26-year-old’s services before the start of the 2012/13 season.
However, the Stadiumclub technical director has now denied that his side is looking to sign the Belgian ace this summer.
“Bjorn is not in our list. We were looking to bring a striker before the new season, but Bjorn was never an option for us”, Van Geel was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
Nonetheless, the Rotterdammers are in search of a central defender following the departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ron-Vlaar-c31697, who represented the fallen Eredivisie giants in well over 100 Eredivisie matches, to Aston Villa last month.
Malaga stopper, Joris Mathijsen, is reportedly linked with Feyenoord. However, it seems like that the Rotterdammers will have to face stiff competition from fellow Eredivisie outfit, Ajax Amsterdam, who are looking to bring in a replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814.
