http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam technical director, Martin van Geel, has revealed that his side is still interested in luring Manchester City youngster, John Guidetti, to De Kuip Stadion on a season-long loan deal.
The 20-year-old, who started his professional career at Etihad Stadium in the 2008/09 season, enjoyed a brilliant 2011/12 campaign on loan at De Kuip Stadion.
Netting 20 goals while setting up six more in 23 Eredivisie appearances, the young striker played an integral role in his side’s impressive second-place finish on the league table.
Following his impressive showings, the Rotterdammers management wanted to prolong his stay at De Kuip Stadion. However, the Swedish starlet returned back to the Citizens after his loan period expired.
Van Geel has now made it clear that his side is interested in bringing the young striker to De Kuip Stadion for another loan spell.
“Two weeks ago I visited Manchester City and spoke extensively with John. It is no secret that we like John. We are investigating the possibilities”, Van Geel was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
However, the Rotterdam giants will only manage to lure the Swedish ace away from Etihad Stadium before the start of the 2012/13 season, if the Citizens opt to loan the 20-year-old yet again.
“But it depends on what City want. And the club are still waiting [to decide] and so, we are too”, Van Geel concluded.
Meanwhile, some reports in English media claim that the Blues would not be interested in sending the youngster on another loan deal. However, they could be tempted to sell the Swedish ace if a good offer comes this summer.
However, signing Guidetti on permanent basis seems to be out of reach for Feyenoord. Furthermore, his impressive performances have reportedly garnered him interest from several other European clubs as well including SSC http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 and
Galatasaray, making his chances of a move to Rotterdam giants even more slimmer.
