The Rotterdammers technical director Martin van Geel has revealed that his side was keeping tabs on the 25-year-old forward since he was playing at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/ADO-Den-Haag-c38221, while stressing that the talented attacker could very well go on to become fans’ favourite.
Reports from De Kuip Stadion confirm that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede, with Jerson Cabral moving to the Tukkers as a part of the deal.
The 25-year-old, who started his professional career at ADO Den Haag in the 2004/05 season, joined the Enschede giants in the summer of 2011 after making more than 100 league appearances for the Hague outfit.
However, the talented winger failed to enjoy regular playing time, and managed to represent the Tukkers in only 11 league matches.
The Rotterdam giants were keen to add more depth to their front-line before the summer transfer window slammed shut, and eventually managed to acquire Verhoek’s services in a swap deal with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cabral-c8232 moving to the Tukkers.
The Stadiumclub technical director, Martin van Geel, was pleased at the arrival of the former ADO winger, and revealed that his side was interested in signing the talented forward when he was plying his trade at Kyocera Stadion.
“We were already keeping tabs on him when he was still with ADO Den Haag. He is a fast and strong player with a great cross, who is in the peak of his career. He's also the type of player who we expect could become a fans' favourite”, Van Geel was quoted
as saying to the club’s official website.
Cabral, who moved to De Grolsch Veste, represented the fallen Eredivisie giants in 52 Eredivisie games, and the Feyenoord chief admitted that it was beneficial for both players, as they were keen to test themselves elsewhere.
“This is the best solution for all parties. Jerson did not raise any objections and he ended up on the bench more often than he was on the field. Cabral and Verhoek were both ready for a new chapter in their careers”, Van Geel concluded.
Verhoek has reportedly put pen to paper on a deal that runs until the summer of 2016.
