The Rotterdammers technical director has confirmed that his side is negotiating with the 48-year-old tactician in order to renew his contract.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam technical director, Martin van Geel, has revealed that his side is holding talks with Ronald Koeman to extend his contract, which runs until the end of the ongoing campaign.
The Dutchman took over the managerial hot seat at De Kuip Stadion in the summer of 2011, following the departure of Mario Been, and signed a one-year contract with the Rotterdam giants.
The vastly experienced tactician has led his side to fifth place in Eredivisie table at the end of the first-half, seven points behind the league leaders AZ Alkmaar. His side’s good shows have convinced the club management into believing that the Dutch mentor
is worthy of a new contract that will tie him with the club for at least another season.
Van Geel has confirmed that his side wants to keep the 48-year-old at helm after the ongoing season as well.
“We are still talking to each other. We have not set a deadline to reach an agreement. We don’t want to rush things. There are some aspects of the contract that needs to be taken care of and we want to make things perfect”, the Rotterdammers technical director
was quoted as saying to the Dutch media.
Koeman also recently expressed his desire to prolong his stay at De Kuip Stadion and revealed that he is keen to sign a new contract.
The 48-year-old started his managerial career in 1997 as the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 assistant coach. After the FIFA World Cup 1998, he was appointed as Barcelona’s assistant coach.
In the summer of 1999, he left La Liga giants to take over the managerial hot seat at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar respectively.
