The former AZ Alkmaar defender insists he wants to join the English Premier League side this summer while confessing that a move to Paul Lambert’s side will be a dream come true.
Feyenoord Rotterdam central defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ron-Vlaar-c31697, has made it clear that he wants to join Aston Villa before the start of the 2012/13 season, and has revealed that the English Premier League side is keen to acquire his services before the summer transfer
window slams shut.
The 27-year-old joined the Rotterdam giants in the summer of 2006 after spending two seasons at AZ Alkmaar. The Dutch international has thus far donned the jersey of the Rotterdammers in 132 Eredivisie games, providing rock solid defence while netting eight
goals along the way.
His impressive showings have attracted him interest from Aston Villa, and the central defender has revealed that the English top flight side is keen in landing his signature.
“On Sunday, I was in Birmingham and I spoke with the coach http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Lambert and I got a very positive impression. Aston Villa just wants me”, Vlaar was quoted as saying to De Telegraaf.
The Dutch stopper went on to confess that a move to Villa Park would be a dream come true while insisting that he really wants to take the next step in his career.
“I have talked to our technical director Martin van Geel and I told him I liked the idea of moving to them. A move to Aston Villa would be a dream come true, I look forward to playing in the Premier League, but I will miss Feyenoord”, Vlaar added.
The central defender has been plying his trade at De Kuip Stadion for the past six years, and the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258.
“The stadium, the fans, my team-mates and staff. If the deal goes through, I will miss them”, Vlaar concluded.
The 27-year-old centre-back, who has represented http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 in nine matches since making his debut in October 2005, has a contract at De Kuip Stadion that runs until the end of the 2013/14 season.
However, the club management will reportedly cash in on the centre-back if an offer in the region of eight million Euros comes in this summer.
