The 27-year-old is constantly linked with a move away from De Kuip Stadion, and the Rotterdammers technical director has confirmed that the centre-back wants to join the English Premier League side.
Feyenoord Rotterdam technical director, Martin van Geel, has revealed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ron-Vlaar-c31697 has expressed his desire to join Aston Villa before the 2012/13 season kicks-off.
The 27-year-old, who joined the Rotterdam giants in the summer of 2006 after making 10 appearances for AZ Alkmaar, has been performing consistently at De Kuip Stadion for the past couple of seasons.
His impressive performances at the heart of the Stadiumclub’s defence have not gone unnoticed, with several English Premier League clubs keen in landing his signature before the summer transfer window slams shut.
Feyenoord technical director, Martin van Geel, has revealed that Vlaar visited Birmingham, and has expressed his desire to ply his trade at Villa Park next term.
“Ron visited Birmingham yesterday and wants to continue his career at Aston Villa”, Van Geel was quoted as saying to RTV Rijnmond.
The Rotterdammers chief went on to insist that the club has offered the central defender a new and improved contract, but the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 stopper does not want to renew his deal at De Kuip Stadion.
“We met with him last week to discuss a contract extension, but that was not an option. It's true that he has a buy-out clause. I won't reveal how much exactly we're talking about, but we're obviously talking about millions here”,
Van Geel concluded.
Vlaar has an ongoing contract with the Stadiumclub that runs until the end of the 2013/14 campaign. Reports indicate that the Rotterdam giants will not let go of their star player for anything less than eight million Euros.
Meanwhile, should the Villans secure the services of the Dutch international, it will mark http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Lambert’s third signing in the ongoing summer transfer window.
