  1. I don't think that is unusual at all these days.  Of course it would depend on where the chapter was located.  In a rural area you might expect to find a higher percentage of farm people involved.  But the FFA has a wide appeal to people not living on farms, and programs they can take part in.  It is my understanding that the FFA has a chapter in NYC, they probably have very near 0% farm boys and girls. Interesting question.

  2. at the time i was in ffa my school was a city high school in houston texas, we had a location about 15 miles from the school called the ag farm where we kept our projects and shared that location with 3 other schools. no one in our chapter lived on a farm or ranch so just because we had ag we were not weird because no one lived in an agriculture situation and today that school still has its ag chapter and they share the ag farm with 5 schools and many of the students including myself go on to get ag degrees from a university

  3. no i do not believe that it is weird at all did you know that Chicago Illinois has the largest chapter in the country (at least when i was in ffa they did) i live in a rual area i live in town and i was VERY active in FFA! FFA name changed to attrack more untraditional members such as kids who live in town. FFA does NOT stand for Future Farmers of America anymore and i feel very strongly that people understand this FFA is now the National FFA Organization..the letters have NO meaning because agriculture is not just farming it is one of the most broad career fields out there! its important that we get more people interestied in agriculture..one of my main goals in life is to help people understand what agriculture is and some of the most simple things like the process of milking a cow because believe it or not so many people dont understand one of my closest friends grew up a large city and she asked me if it would be ok if she came to the dairy farm i work at in the winter because she wanted to make sure that she would be able to see a cow get milked and she wasnt sure if winter was a milking season. simple things like this are misunderstandings i really feel the general public needs to understand!! but right here this girl grew up in town was a VERY active member of FFA and is very much in love with the agriculture industry!!

  4. What do you mean? Most of the kids in my FFA are just normal "city" kids that have a place to put their animal. I don't live on a farm but I have livestock and things.

  5. not at all...

  6. no... in any rural area where there are farms, the FFA has a higher interest in the schools as they hope to keep the farming industry alive.
