Question:

Fiber Optic audio cable question? maintenance & hubs?

I have two different fiber optic cables that I use for my Xbox360, one for my surrond sound system and another for my surround sound gaming headphones. The problem is I can only use one at a time and the one that is not plugged in gets dusty. I tried to put the little rubber cap on the end of the one not in use but I eventually lost it.

So is there a safe way to clean it and is there some sort of hub\splitter I can use to connect both cables at the same time?

  1. Yes they do make a hub for optical. I use one that has 3 inputs and 1 output. I got it on ebay. The ends would stay clean and you just switch it to whatever you want to use.

  2. Monoprice has an optical switch for about $7 and I have seen it at Frys for a bit more.
