  1. Krithia-

"Fibromyalgia" is what I believe you mean.

Fibromyalgia is both a physical and a psychological disorder that causes muscle pain and fatigue (feeling tired). People with fibromyalgia have “tender points” on the body. Tender points are specific places on the neck, shoulders, back, hips, arms, and legs. These points hurt when pressure is put on them.

People with fibromyalgia may also have other symptoms, such as:

    Trouble sleeping

    Morning stiffness

    Headaches

    Painful menstrual periods

Tingling or numbness in hands and feet

Problems with thinking and memory (sometimes called “fibro fog”).

The causes of fibromyalgia are unknown. There may be a number of factors involved. Fibromyalgia has been linked to:

Stressful or traumatic events, such as car accidents

    Repetitive injuries

    Illness

    Certain diseases.

  2. It is certainly a very physical condition...there are certain trigger points on the body which become very painful. Fatigue and brain fog are other symptoms. While it is not a life threatening disease it can be debilitating. There is no cure but medications can relieve the symptoms.

  3. KRITHIA W,

Fibromyalgia (FM) is a disorder classified by the presence of chronic widespread pain and tactile allodynia. (The literal meaning of allodynia is "other pain", and implies a painful response to a usually non-painful stimulus and can be either static or mechanical.)

The subject is extensive and I add a link with copious details which you may find interesting.

  4. Do you mean "Fibromyalgia"?

Previously, fibromyalgia was known by other names such as fibrositis, chronic muscle pain syndrome, psychogenic rheumatism and tension myalgias. Fibromyalgia has also been linked to fatigue, morning stiffness, sleep problems, headaches, numbness in hands and feet, depression, and anxiety. Physical or emotional trauma may play a role in development of the syndrome.

Thus it is seen that fibromyalgia can be considered as a physical as well as psychological problem.

  5. It is both. Some experts think it is all in the mind, and that stress is a major factor in triggering it, but it is definitely a very real, physical condition - as any one of us who suffers it / has suffered it, will tell you.

Don't ever let anyone tell you it is all in your head  -it isn't and feeling that you are a headcase will only aggravate it. Recognize it for the debilitating condition that it is.
