Question:

Fibromyalga, Do you have it??

My Rheumatologist first thought I had Rheumatoid arthritis, then osteoarthritis, finally fibromyalga. This was after five years of being sick.

In April I read an article about ASPARTAME allergy. My husband is Diabetic, so we would have a sugar free Fudgecycle every evening (it contains aspartame.) Well after getting the flu I stopped the fudgecyles. Amazingly enough ALL PAIN LEFT ME. I now pay close attention to what sweeteners are in foods and am 95% pain free.

In the previous five years my knees had been so bad that I could barely walk. Then my wrists became so bad that I had to hold them over my head for the pain to ease. Then the total fatigue and body aches, then it hit my thumb joints and mid and low spine. I had been on Vicodin daily for 5 years and now am without anything except Excedrin occassionally.

Three days off any aspartame and the pain was gone.

What is left is my regular age related discomfort. If I do slip up and eat something with Aspartame in it my thumb joint and elbow joint will begin to hurt again. But in a day or two it is gone again.

Hopefully this might help someone else, maybe.

  2. My mom has fibro and her pain levels are heavily affected by what she eats.  If she eats anything with starch (like potatoes) her pain gets much worse.  I think everyone has pain food triggers.

  3. Oh my god - that's amazing!  I have FMS so as of right this second I'm going to stop Aspertame containing foods and see if I can't get some results like this.

    Thanks so much :D

  4. Thank you for posting that!  I always take suggestions from real patients (not studies) to my doctor to see what he says and also because he is interested in hearing what other patients say.

I cut out all white flour, rice, sugar, all the white stuff (lol) from my diet and it helped quite a bit.  If I eat any sugar, I can tell within a few hours because I will ache so bad.  But I never thought of Aspertame.  Years ago, a doctor told me they released that before the FDA did enough studies on it.  Seems to happen with a lot of things.

In any case, I'm so glad you took the time to post that info.  Who knows how many people you have helped?
