Fidel Edwards is ready to play for West Indies
The West Indian Fast Bowler, Fidel Edwards, is optimistic about making a comeback in International cricket after a lapse of about two years.
He began playing First-Class cricket again in February, after recovering from a back surgery which kept him out of the game for quite a while.
Born on February 6, 1982 in g**s, St Peter, Barbados, Fidel is a right-arm fast bowler and a right-hand batsman. He has played for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, Deccan Chargers and Barbados.
Edwards was in the lime light once he entered the first class arena and was picked up for the national side after just one domestic match. He has a lot of variation in his arsenal with the ability to bowl a good line and length.
Edwards has played 43 Test matches for the Windies and has claimed 122 wickets at an average of 39.43.
Appearing in 50 One Day International matches, He has grabbed 60 wickets at an average of 30.20 with best figures of 6 for 22 runs.
In the Twenty20 format, he has played 11 matches with 10 wickets at an average of 30.80.
Edwards has played six matches for his native team Barbados this season and was able to get 22 wickets at a healthy average of 23. 77.
"I'm very happy to be back, I spent a long time out but I've made a full recovery and my body is ready to play five-day cricket again. I did a lot of good work with my trainer and the physio in Barbados and they were tremendous help
to me during my comeback period,” shared Edwards.
He further added, "I felt I bowled well for Barbados and that helped me. I spent some time at the camp in Barbados before the series started and I felt comfortable. I did some work with the head coach (Ottis Gibson) during the camp
and things have been going smoothly.”
Edwards is anticipating that he will be recalled to play the Test series against Pakistan, starting May 12, 2011.
He has concentrated on his physical fitness in the past few months since he fully recovered from his back injury and has produced the results in domestic cricket.
He believes that he will be able to deliver his best against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, enabling his country to clinch the 2-match series.
West Indies has yet to win a Test match since their last 17 outings and they would be looking to redeem themselves against Pakistan.
