Fido or Rover woof woof... ?

Have you ever met a dog in your life named "Fido" or "Rover" I see this used ALL the time on TV, especially in cartoons. I am guessing Rover is more likely, have you ever met a Rover or Fido?

Haha yes, several of both actually..I volunteer at a dog kennel.

Granted they are definitely not very popular these days, but I think they use those names on tv because they used to be quite popular and then everyone just started associating those names with dogs. Plus it's a lot more logical for a show or commercial to say "Here Fido" than "Here Petey" because people automatically know what it is.
