Question:

Field Hockey Injury Chance?

I'm going to be goalie and defensive. And I was just wondering the chances of getting severely hurt in both of those positions. The girl last year got hit in the head with the stick and fractured her skull... which is not the best reinforcment. But what are the chances and severity?

And how much does it hurt getting hit with the ball when in goal and not in goal.

First year playing.

  1. Field hockey! YAY!

I've been playing field hockey for.. 8 years now as well as playing club.

I actually play full back, so yeah. It depends how vicious the other team are, I guess. I got hit in the mouth with the ball last year, it hurt and bled, but I had my mouthguard in, so it was okay. You might get hit in the shins a bit, but if you're wearing shinpads then you should be fine.

  2. I've been playing for a couple of years, mainly as a full back and I don't get hurt too often, and have never had a serious injury.

A well-padded goalie is usually fine.

I've been hit in the head a few times, but never very hard, but the knee seems to be a place where alot of people get hit hard.

It really depends how vicious the opposition are and what level of competiton you are competing at.

  3. i just got hit in the knee and i am goalie. i have to use crutches and a leg brace for a week. a girl on our team last year got hit in the eye with a stick and it damaged her eye socket. my arms are covered in bruises from getting hit with the ball. lol very high chances ...
