Field hockey strategies?

Hi! :) I play midfield for my high school field hockey team, and I was wondering if anybody has any strategies or hints or tips or whatever for playing. :D

you probably know both of these becuase they're pretty common tricks but if your stick and someone elses gets caught with the ball between just pull the opposite way...it works well but if the opposing player is really aggressive also it's hard to do.

and when someone is driving put your stick all the way to the ground and angle it to avoid having it hitting you in the face.

i don't even play on the school team because i have dance during practices so i just practice at home and do field hockey camps so i havent done a lot of team playing...which means i don't have a lot of strategies.
