Fierce competition expected in the Michael and Peggy Dowd Memorial Handicap
A tough competition of horseracing is expected in the Michael & Peggy Dowd Memorial Handicap at Ballinrobe in Ireland on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. A total of 14 runners will battle out for the prize money of €5,175.
The track conditions at Ballinrobe will be yielding to soft, over a distance of 1 mile and 6 furlongs. This will definitely test the stamina of all runners, who are set to entertain the spectators.
There are some very good runners lined up for action in today's race, but the real competition is expected to be amongst three of them. Moonlight Sapphire, Liberty Love, and Daytime Dreamer will give each other and the rest of the field a tough time.
Out of the above mentioned participants, Liberty Love has earned the confidence of the bookmakers, despite the fact that he has only managed to win once in his career.
His victory came at Wolverhampton in April this year, which means that he is carrying a decent momentum right now.
The seven-year-old gelding has taken part in a total of 14 races, but his overall record is not that impressive. He was unable to make a big impression at the start of his career, but has been delivering some decent results over the past few months. This has helped him get the attention of the punters today.
Trained by Shaun Harley, Liberty Love finished as the runner-up in his most recent outing, when he was sent as the favourite. He looked in control for most part of the race, but lost the lead to, Star of Aragon, in the end.
Shane Foley will be the one partnering the favourite runner today. He might not be confident of winning the race, as his performances in recent times have been lackluster.
On the other hand, Moonlight Sapphire is carrying the winning momentum at the moment, as she managed to prevail in her most recent race. She has earned three victories out of 30 attempts, which shows that she lacks consistency.
Last but not the least, Daytime Dreamer is the most experienced runner out of the top three favourites, as he has participated in 71 races. However, his strike rate is on the lower side, as he has only won five times in his career.
The eight-year-old gelding was victorious in his most recent race, thus he is also in decent form at the moment.
