Are there any companies out there that give rides on fighter jets? (to the general public, for a fee) Not bi-planes etc.

  1. I know in Russia, some companies that own Mig-29's and other jets let you have a ride in fighters, but its a hefty price.  Somewhere in the thousands for a ride.

  2. I've never heard of one, I would think the insurance for that would be outrageous.

  3. Become a Congressman, or other high ranking politician, and visit an Air Force base, and get a ride. (under favorable conditions, with prior approval from the base commander)

  4. one of the  local airports near me let you ride in military fighters in simulated dog fights.  Of course these are not the modern day combat jets, but much older ex-military jets.

Was going to do it a few years ago, but never got around to it.  Fairly expensive.

Actually... just looked at their website and they are not jets but prop aircraft.   Thought they had some older jets available.

  5. If you want to fly  in a real

front line jet fighter (not an L-39 *trainer)

you have to go to Moscow - Zhukovsky Airbase!

You'll a pocket full of US dollars!

    Because jet fuel ain't cheap.

    In 1991   a ride on a Mig-15UTI 2 seat trainer

cost about a $400.00+ for a half hour ride around

the airport here in the States.

*an L-39 ride wouldn't be bad. And those

are available here in the States!

  6. We operate a 4-ship airshow team using former Soviet fighter-trainers (2 seats). We do provide free rides for the media and some VIP's. The FAA rules forbid us from charging for rides, so it would be pretty costly for us to offer rides to the general public.

That said, as a "perk", we DO give free rides to people who volunteer to help us rebuild and maintain these jets. Most are local folks who have a bit of mechanical ability and can follow instruction (use hand tools, etc.).

I don't know if there's a warbird operator based near you...but it's the best way I know of to get a ride...

  7. There are hundreds of privately owned ex-military fighter jets around. They are "de-militarized" before civilians can buy them.  They burn quite a bit of fuel per hour, so I doubt if it would be cheap to get a ride in one.  There are airshows all over the country, and that would be your best bet for finding one in the public area.  There is a link below that does just what you want.  Do a search on "fighter jet rides" and you will find others.  Good Luck - Go For It and Have Fun!

  9. Russia is the only country I know of that will sell you a 45 min ride in a MiG 29 or something of the same type for a LARGE fee...Somewhere around 25,000 USD....too much to waste..I would recommend finding a warbird school and take a ride in an L-39 or something....still high...but cheaper than flying to russia to do it....good luck
