Question:

Fighting Manny Pacquiao?

Why do so many people out there think Manny could possibly fight at a heavier weight? De la Hoya-Pacman this, Mayweather-Pacman that? Does anyone else think that those people who want to see one of those fights are dragging boxing down? How did the sport go from being able to see such classic fights like the Thrilla in Manila or Schmeling-Louis 2, to being able to see who can get the bigger paycheck?

  1. I dont see Pacquiao going up 15-20 pounds to fight De La Hoya

  2. I'm with you man. It's so amazing how money can freakingly change anything in an instant, including a fighter's heart. For sure, as a fighter, this isn't what manny pacquiao wants but it smacks the bank with unbelievable possibilities of having a guaranteed $15 million in fighting DLH. Just the idea of fighting an old, but bigger and stronger man for a bigger bucks, badly stinks in any measure. :((

  3. it was irritating when they kept posting that stuff! Pacquiao vs. Hatton would be overhyped too. Hatton is pathetic quitter.

Pacquiao cleaning out lightweight would be awesome.

  4. Manny in my eyes well I dont want to call it p4p but I would rather call it elite fighters. Manny is the #1 elite fighter now that Mayweather is gone, I just dont see him beating Hatton. Dont get me wrong, Manny started at 105. The dude is amazing in the ring. I just think at 140 is when he starts to decline. Just the laws of Physics.

  5. but wouldnt it be fun to watch another david and goliath match up? I thinks its partly about PUSHING THINGS to the limits, though a few extra pounds on Pacq. would cost him his speed, but hey he aint getting any younger... and if you're only up to fighting guys you're guaranteed to win over, what's the point in that? I just wish he'd start with hatton first though, then if he knocks the f*** out of hatton,  a clear KO that is, then he's got my votes for a DLH-MP bout. Lets face it man, arent we all just curious about that bout? It's another underdog story waiting to unfold.

  6. Well he could fight a heaveir weight but why? if you think about it iof it wasnt for 4 KOs in thiert 2 fights Juan Manuel Marquez won more rounds than Pac Man

  7. I totally agree. All this BS with De La Hoya vs.Pacquiao started when Mayweather retired leaving Oscar with no big money fight available.Oscar being a promoter tries to talk up a matchup with Pacquiao (currently rated #1 P4P)

The bottom line is since Oscar created Golden Boy Promotions,he has become a Latino version of Don King,a modern day gold digger who cares only about making money at any cost. He's a former fighter turn promoter who doesn't give a f**k about the integrity of boxing.I don't know who his opponent will be for his final fight but I hope to god they knock his azz thru the ropes

  8. Amen.  The first fight that I saw that I thought was only about money was DLH fighting BHop.

Here are my problems with this.  First, it takes the integrity from judges scoring the fights.  Second, the size disadvantage increases the possibility of the smaller guy getting hurt, and finally, it proves nothing!

For what it is worth, I would be on cloud 9 if Pac Man KO'd DLH.  DLH needs to pick on someone his own size.  I think Pac looked great at 135, and there is plenty of talent there, he could fight 3 more years at 135 and not run out of opponents.

The matchmakers need to be regulated so we can avoid this type of tomfoolery that is pennywise and poundfoolish.  Trust me, it hurts the long term health of the sport to stage events like this.
