Fighting a traffic ticket?

if i decide to fight the ticket and the officer who gave it to me doesn'tt show up does that mean im off the hook? ( im in california by the way ) also what is the best way to reduce the cost? its 366 dollars and 420 with traffic school

  2. If the cop does not show, you win on default. If the traffic violation is not that serious and you have a good record you may try to bargain and the judge may reduce it.  

  3. Generally yes.   Find what days his court dates are, then reschedule your court date to another.

  4. In California, failure of the officer to show up generally results in the cite being dismissed - unless he's made arrangements with the court for a different day (which is very rare).

    Judges have some flexibility, especially where it's your first cite or you have any other mitigating factors. Explain that to the judge, and he MAY reduce it - no guarantees.

  5. Well if the officer doesnt show up u have a better chance of fighting the ticket as 4 the cost i have no idea :)
