Question:

Fighting female gerbils?

We've had 2 female gerbils from the same litter for about 2 years and they've been fine but recently, there's been some aggression (definitely different from playfighting). One now seems to be cowering in their nest and gets attacked if she dares to venture out. We can't see any blood on either gerbil but don't want the scared one to live her life in fear. Is seperation the only solution? Thanks

  1. You have to seperate them, she can't keep living in fear, and if she comes out then the next time she may actually be hurt. You have to seperate them, so that you're not risking one's life.

  2. im sos to say butthe best think to do is seperate them incase 1 does get hurt u just have a bully i had it with my mice and seperated i no it mean she on herown but it dont matter she get used to it

  3. Seperate them. Might be in heat.

  4. if they are fighting, they either are in heat, or just plain on dont like each other. did you just put them toghether? how long have they been fighting? if it just started, then they are in heat, and need to be sepperated if there is any blood... if just play fighting thenn they are fine.

  5. U can try to introduce them again

  6. This is very common if they are in heat. They reach thier breeding age at about 1 1/2 or 2 so i would seperate them for a little. It could also be an act  of dominace this means that it may never stop in less 1 backs down.
