Fighting for the starting DT spot?

Me and My friend are fighting for the last Dt sport and we have the same speed we are 6'1 iv been playing for 1 year and he is a rookie he also recently hurt his hand but is practicing i can move my feet faster and have more agility but most of the coaches don't really have faith in me who do you think will start

coaches almost always go with the players they have more confidence in.....they worry about that"every-play" ability...

It all depends:

who can move their feet better

who can knock footballs down better

who can take on two blockers at once

who can get in their and make the tackle

who can drive the center/guard backwards and get the sack on the QB

whoever can do that stuff is the starter
