Figure 8 Bridle?

what is the difference between a figure 8 noseband and a regular english bridle? Why do most horses you see doing eventing wear figure 8 bridles. Is it necessary to use a figure 8 bridle for eventing?

No its not always necessary, depends if your horse is a puller and you need that extra bit of control.

No, but it helps w/ tuff horses that want to get infront of the bit, or lug on the bit, and run off. It works on a major pressure point on there nose to keep them flexing properly. Better control that way.
