Figure 8 puffers - tankmates?

Can I have a figure 8 puffer housed with Molly's in a brackish tank?

  1. Just make sure you keep it with fish that swim fast. If you find a half eaten molly, the molly was probably on its way out anyway.


  2. It *really* depends. Figure 8's are the more peaceful of the puffers, but they can be temperamental as they grow. If you don't mind waking up one morning and finding some molly-bits and the puffer alone, you can try it, but puffer's are best kept alone in species-only tanks, or just generally alone.

  3. Try some tiger barbs, white clouds, barbed shark,rainbow shark, tetras, kuhli loch,Angels, penguin tetras,salfrin pelco, Siamese fighting.Should read some info before you place in your TANK....

  4. I would not keep any kind of puffer with a violet goby, they are very slow moving and they puffer will nip its fins, same will go with the guppies and mollies, it would be my guess that the puffers will try and eat them.  Nix the puffers unless you want to set up a species only tank, which is what is recommended for puffers of any species.
