I am 14 and I have recently been going skating for fun and I have fallen in love with it lol and I have my own skates.

I really want lessons but my nearest Ice rink is about 40 minutes away and my mum says she won't drive that far. I REALLY want these lessons so badly how can I persuade my mum?

And because I'm 14 it isn't too late to start is it?

Thank you! :) xxxxxxx

  1. It is never to late to start skating! some people start late and move up the levels fast like i did! and to persuade your mum i say that you tell her that this is something that you really want to do and will put your heart and soul in in! Also tell her that you will stay deticated to this sport! p.s then put on the puppy face!! lol

  2. compromise with her, and you are definitely not too old.  NO one is ever too old to ice skate, but doen't count set your goals too high.  if you plan to compete, there are many categories for all ages and levels.

  3. 14 isn't too old at all.  I don't know if you'll ever make it to the Olympics or anything, but you never know.  I think the best way you can persuade your mom is by offering to do work around the house as a trade off for her driving you to skating.  Also, tell her you'll get good grades and work hard at skating.  And if you have a birthday or something coming up, you could always ask for that as part of your present.

  4. No, of course 14 isn't too late to start.

You're never too late to start silly! :)

I fell in love with skating the first time I skated and I convinced my mom to let me skate so maybe I can help you.

You could try to persuade her by saying you'll improve your grades at school, and you'll help more around the house by doing chores.

If you have a younger sibling you could offer to help them with their homework whenever they need it.

You could convince her that you really love skating and you really want to try figure skating and that you'll work really hard and tell her that you're dedicated.

Of course you'll have to live up to all these promises, but these are just suggestions !

Maybe you have a friend interested in skating too and he or she could get in lessons with you and you guys could carpool. Say you give a ride over and your friend give the ride back, or something like that!

Also, when you're just starting out skating is much more enjoyable when you have a friend to share the excitement with !

If you have any money saved up you could offer to help pay for the lessons, or for the gas, haha !

Uhm, I'm not sure what else to say but I hope I helped in some way. Good luck, and happy skating :D
