  1. You should get figue skates, and keep up the good work

  2. That's great that you have some hockey experience!  It should help you a little if you want to learn some of the figure skating basics.  There are many things in hockey and figure skating that are similar..... mohawks, crossovers, stopping, 3-turns, edges.....but the technique may be a little adjustment.  There is a big difference in hockey and figure skate blades though.  You probably won't be able to perform basic figure skating elements in hockey skates.  There's the obvious differerence with a figure skate blade having toe picks, which are needed for figure skating elements.  Also the rocker or the "bend" of the blade is different in hockey skates versus figure skate blades.  While I have seen some "cross over" skaters perform things such as axels in hockey skates, I'd still suggest investing in a pair of (at least) recreational figure skates if you want to pick up some of the basics of figure skating.  Maybe check into some group lessons at your local rink.  They offer classes for all ages, teaching the basic skills of all ice sports and then splitting off into specific classes for hockey and figure skating.  Good luck!  :)

  3. most figure skating tricks would be just a tiny bit risky in hockey skates just because there is no toepick so you could slip off of your  blade. the things that are suggested above would probably be okay to do though.

if you'r really interested in it you might want to get some figure skates...even cheap ones for now...the world can always use more skaters...especially guys
