Figure skating pairs?

Question

At what level would you start looking for a figure skating partner? and how hard is it to find a young male figure skater in england?

A pair team is only as strong as its weakest link, and as the ladies in this sport tend to mature sooner than their male counterparts, you could be looking for a partner a few years older than you, especially if you are not quite 10 years of age. If you are going to commit to being held high in the air by a guy, please, for everyone's sake, wait for the gentleman to begin maturing. Chances are that the gentleman will be very unsure of his footing until he has entered the maturing years and grown accustomed to his body's new dimensions, and will be very reluctant to put an actual person above his head, depending upon his stability while he spins around at 20 kph. I think that you, too, would like to have some faith in his ability to keep you in position without collapsing.

As for working on the fundamentals of pair skating, unison in skating takes time to develop, so if there is a school near you which might have some young fellows who might be interested in this part of the sport, just enroll there, begin going through the stroking and footwork exercises to build up your own strength, and just get yourself ready for when a suitable guy comes along.

well if i were you i would wait till juv. cause then youll have all your doubles but i wouldnt start triples without the partner

It's endorsed by the USFSA though it seems like it focuses more on getting partners of higher levels. You could still put up your photo and wait to see if a British male responds.

I still personally think you need to have at least a certain singles level to go to Pairs. No point being good at syncing crossovers together if you can't even do a single throw jump due to lack of skill & strength which is a problem I see a lot in the US.
