  1. backwards skating doesnt usually fail to impress beginners, dunno why lol :) the same goes for 3 turns and any other basic stuff. if you havent started jumps or spins just yet then i'd avoid them for now, its easy to make bad habits when teaching yourself new stuff. go enjoy your time on the ice, you dont have to be around her so focus have a good time with your friends :) the point of the day really is to have fun with your friends i think. so dont get to hung up on making this girl jealous. if she's not nice to know, she's not really worth the time and effort ay? just the fact that you are confident on the ice is enough (just dont rub it in her face... thats never nice).

    Happy Skating!

  2. Don't worry about showing off. If you know most skating skills then just do what you can, and she will most likely be impressed. I don't think you should let this get in the way of your skating, otherwise it will end up hindering you rather than her.

  3. lol..thats pretty funny..

if your trying to make her befriend you just watch her fall on the ice a couple of times and help her up..if not, just watch her fall

  4. drags and spirals

  5. If you've been skating a year and say you can do most skating stuff, I think it will be quite obvious that you can already do more than the other girl, the beginner skater.  You really won't have to try hard to impress.

Tuesday is barely 3 days away - even with a crash course on certain jumps and spins, it's probably going to look like you're just learning it anyway and not look impressive.  It's better to stick with tricks that you already have in your bag and pull out the ones you do best.

If anything, take your time on your moves.  People who show off tend to rush things and make mistakes (like falling when they least expect it).  How many times have I seen show offs try to put their freeleg up real high on spirals they're not ready for - and SPLAT!  Show offs can look like they're trying too hard to show off . . . it better look great or it can backfire on you if something goes wrong.

Have excellent posture - keep your shoulders down with your back arched - chin up.  Skating isn't only about doing the moves . . .it's making it look good.  So look artistic as you can . . . use your arms, point your toes . . . even swizzles, slaloms or one foot glides this way can look prettier than what it is.

Why would you want to impress someone you hate anyway?  Only to make her jealous?  If you really hate her, don't even bother . . . just skate naturally as you already do.  Who knows - maybe you'll both see each other differently when you're on the ice - at least you guys have skating in common!

    Good luck skating on Tuesday!!!
