Fiji looking forward to a much needed victory in Rugby World Cup 2011 against Samoa -Rugby News
The Fijian side is set to clinch a much needed victory in Rugby World Cup when they face their arch rivals, Samoa, on September 25 in Auckland. Fiji has won one match in their campaign as they defeated Namibia by a splendid margin of 49-25 on September 10.
They look well settled to grab the second victory in the ongoing global showpiece while playing against Samoa. The Flying Fijian’s assistant coach, Shannon Fraser, talked to the media on September 23 and expressed his hopes of claiming a win against their
rivals.
Fiji has a psychological edge over Samoa as they defeated their rivals in the Pacific Nations Cup 2011 and are certain to maintain their excellent record against their fellow pacific nation side. A much anticipated clash is expected when the associated nation’s
take on each other in front of a huge crowd in Auckland. All the tickets for this particular match have been sold and both the sides will enjoy a healthy support from their fans.
Shannon Fraser, the assistant coach of Fiji, told the media that his side is in good spirits as they have a plenty of experience. He added that, “We're using a lot of senior players with a good history of playing Samoa to drive the conversation. We, as coaches,
can speak tactically and talk statistically, but we've really got to ignite the flame within.”
The skipper for Fiji, Deacon Manu, also talked to the media about the encounter against Samoa and said that it’s going to be a real good clash between the two neighbourly sides. He also said that, “Whenever we play the Samoans or the Tongans it's always
a physical match and there's a lot of big hits. There's a lot of entertaining rugby, but we're obviously there to get the result on the scoreboard.”
Meanwhile, Samoa has also named an experienced team and has claimed a victory against Fiji. Under the given circumstances the game will be a test of nerves. However, the situation will be clear in the evening of September 25 at Eden Park, Auckland, once
the final whistle blows.
