Fijian Asaeli Boko joins Sale Sharks
Fijian international Asaeli Boko has signed a contract with Aviva Premiership side, the Sale Sharks.
The forward has spent this season on trial with Sale, but the club’s head coach Mike Brewer has offered the back row a contract after he impressed during his time at Sale.
The 29-year-old had spent last season with Saracens trying to earn a contract, but they released the player after a year at the club.
Brewer has taken up the chance to sign the Fijian and he believes that Boko will add some strength to his forward pack.
"He has been with us now training and conditioning and he has earned his contract to play for us," said Brewer.
"I had the pleasure of working with Asaeli on the European tour last autumn and was impressed with him,” added the Sale coach.
Sale have had an indifferent start to their season so far. They have picked up nine points from five games and are 11 points off league leader’s London Irish.
However, the Sharks have hit a spell of good form and have recorded big wins in their last two games against Petrarca and Cetransa El Salvador in the Challenge Cup.
Boko will be available for the Aviva Premiership match against Leeds and he will hope that he gets the chance to show the club what he can do.
The back row forward has proved to be a good player for Fiji. His pace and upper body strength has proved to be crucial for the international team and Brewer will hope that the forward can bring the same form into the league for Sale.
Boko has also got great handling skills for a forward and Brewer believes that he will add something different to the Sale squad.
The Fijian may prove to be a shrewd acquisition by the Sale coach.
