Fiji’s Sam Domoni believes his side can beat All Blacks - Rugby News
The head coach of Fiji, Sam Domoni, has declared his side competitive enough to defeat the IRB World Number 1 New Zealand All Blacks in their forthcoming test match, on Friday July 22.
Domoni expressed his full confidence in his team on July 21 and said that his side has got the ability to produce an upset win in Dunedin. He quoted the example of Samoa, which left the Wallabies l*****g their wounds on Sunday, July 17.
The Wallabies were forced to accept defeat by the World Number 10 Samoans by a large difference of 32-23 in Sydney. Fijian coach Domoni believes that his side is quite capable of producing the same kind of results. He said, “Part of the plan is to achieve
what the Samoans achieved in Australia. So we have got a few things in our head as well, it is a big motivation for the boys to be playing for Fiji on Friday night. Like all other teams, winning is part of believing in ourselves and what we can do because
if we thought otherwise than we would not be going.”
Meanwhile, Domoni has admitted to the fact that All Blacks are the toughest side to beat and Fiji will be required to put big efforts to overcome their rivals. He stated that the players of his team are excited to face the All Blacks before Rugby World Cup
2011 and are pumped up to face their rivals.
Domoni also said that, “Playing the All Blacks is like playing in the World Cup - it only comes around every four years. The guys that are here are looking forward to the challenge.”
The All Blacks are also aware of the fact that Fijians can be very dangerous on their day and should be taken seriously. Veteran New Zealand player Dan Carter, who will start the game from the benches, warned his team to be careful of the Pacific nation
side’s strengths even though the All Blacks grabbed an easy victory against Fiji in their last meeting back in 2005.
