Filey Champ rated as favourite for the BAGS/SIS 500 - Heat 1
Filey Champ wins the best odds for the BAGS/SIS 500 - Heat 1 at Nottingham in England on Monday, March 26, 2012. The distance to cover for all greyhounds will be 500 metres and the winner will bag a cash prize of £150.
The Grade A3 event will start at 18:44 GMT and following are the six entries confirmed for it: Filey Champ, Woop Woop Smokey, Salacres Bingo, Mother Machree, Swift Speed and Mineola Chill.
There are very good chances for Filey Champ to make an impression today, as he is in very good rhythm at the moment. The bookmakers have shown faith in his abilities, despite the fact that he has been unable to win any of his last six races.
L. Tuffin’s trainee performed well in his most recent outing, as he finished runner up in it. However, he could have done a lot better than that. The bookmakers had given him the best odds and expected him to deliver a dominating show.
The black dog failed to meet the expectations of everyone and finished more than two lengths adrift of the race winner. The punters will be a touch hesitant over risking money in his favour, but they might miss an opportunity of winning some easy money.
Filey Champ is the son of Westmead Chipp out of Light Feet and was born in April 2009.
On the other hand, Woop Woop Smokey is likely to give a tough time to today’s favourite hound, as he is in decent form. He has managed to win a couple of races out of his past five appearances, thus the punters will have faith in his abilities.
E. Saville’s trainee has no problems running in this class and be the one to watch out for. He could have earned the best odds for the race, but his most recent performance was below par.
The black dog finished fifth overall and was unable to cause any problems for the rest of the pack. He does lack momentum at the moment, but has the ability of breaking the shackles at Nottingham. He is the son of Hondo Black out of Smooth And Soft and was
born in June 2009.
Things will be a touch difficult for the rest of the pack, as the top two favourites will not let anyone else get closer.
