Question:

Filing a damage claim with the moving company?

We recently moved and the moving company did some serious damage to some of our furniture. I'm just wondering if we should expect financial compensation up front to replace damaged furniture or would we have to buy new equivelant stuff and be reimbursed? This was a military move so we didn't hire the moving company. They wrecked a whole bunch of stuff but we don't have the money to replace it all. Everything is well documented and photographed including the pre move out condition.

  1. Call them and ask them, though if it was a military move was it a squaddie job or was it a private company?

  2. you need to file the proper paperwork thru your military liason. just ask anyone on post where the transportation office is located. the phone number should also be on your paperwork... I think its in block 13 of your 1698. you should have also filled out the damage section of that form as well.

you deal with the military. the military deals with the movers.
