Filing an amended return?

i filed an amended return with the state tax in nyc they recived it july 11 what is the time frame for me to recieve it it is being done manually instead of electronically

NY is notoriously slow for processing tax returns and issuing refunds.  This applies to both original returns and amended returns.  3 or 4 months doesn't seem to be unusual at all.

This may take more time.  I'd say about 2 to 3 weeks.

Don't worry, they won't forget you.  Anytime they receive an amended return, they may have some questions.  In that case you should receive some correspondence soon.

I went thru that in  NYC, took 2 months.

a normal return can take 2-8 weeks

an amended return can take 4-12 weeks

and if anything shows up, lots longer

an amended return is a paper return and thus takes longer to process, and after it's processed, they have to process the refund, which can take another couple weeks
