Question:

Filing for Canadian income tax (previous years) Forms?

The Revenue Canada website has a list of forms from all years and was wondering if its ok to just print out the forms from the site and use them to fill out my taxes. Also since my situation is very basic and simple (having only one income to claim) what form do I need? Do I need to include all the different forms even though some of them ask for information that does not pertain to me eg. dependants, capital gains ect.. I need to fill out both the federal and provincial forms for each year? Thanks in advance.

  1. Go ahead and print the forms that are at the web site and use them to file your returns. For each year, you should fill in the Schedule 1, and the provincial tax form that corresponds to your province of residence for that year. The T1 General states you should attach these forms to your return even if the result is zero.

Do you have your T4 slips for year? if you don't, call CRA and they can send copies.

  2. The standard T1-General will probably work for you, and yes, you can print them out and use them.  If you have to fill out any additional forms, you'll discover that while going through the process and print them as well.  You only have to include those forms that apply to you.

  3. Yes, you can print out and use the forms on their site but given your  situation of late filing  and possibly for more than one year, I suggest you contact revenue Canada at  1-800-959-8281. Automated service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Agents are available Monday to Friday (except holidays) from 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
