Filipino: How do you cook kalamungai (malunggay) stalks?

I already know how to cook the leaves in stews, etc., but I need to know how to cook the stalks. Are they steamed and for how long? I had these at a party once where one puts the stalk between their teeth and eats the filling of the stalk. Thanks :)

My husband is Indian, so I have had these before.  I like them, they are called "drumsticks" in India.

You just cut the stalk into pieces (5-7 cm) and boil them.  The very end bottom portion of the stalk can be tough, so dont use it.  But the rest of the stalk is edible, how do you plan to use it?

As a general rule, the hard ridges of the drumsticks should be scraped with a peeler, but do not over peel, as the vegetable will become difficult to cook and stir. The skin should also be intact to enable eating the fleshy part, when cooked, or the skin wills break and one cannot enjoy it to the fullest.

They are boiled or simmered for 10-15 minutes depending on thickness & size.  You can do this directly in soup, stock or curries depending on how you wish to eat them.
