Filipino lawyer files complaint against Pacquiao vs. Bradley results – Boxing News
Filipino election lawyer Romulo Macalintal has filed an official complaint with the Nevada Attorney General’s office for inquiring the results of Pacquiao vs. Bradley bout that took place on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The fight ended with a split
decision victory for Bradley, leaving many analysts, fans, and fellow fighters in the arena shocked. The fight was considered to be a one-sided fight for Pacquiao but the results showed otherwise.
Not just Romulo, millions of fans around the world are questioning the authenticity of the results, including promoter Bob Arum. Romulo addressed the Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto, saying that the complaint represents the millions of fans
of Pacquiao around the world who were shocked over the decision and are looking forward to an explanation. According to him, the number of such fans is so huge that it is practically impossible to mention all of them in the application, yet the complaint represents
them all. The complaint was filed on June 15 and was emailed to reporters immediately.
While talking about the complaint, he commented, “It is (my) humble submission that whatever will be the results of the investigation or inquiry…will surely be of great help and guidance in future sports activities sanctioned by the State of Nevada for the
protection of all sports enthusiast and those who have all the rights to demand and claim fair and credible system of officiation.”
He added that he is among the millions of boxing fans around the world who have the right to know if the results were fair or not in any sporting event.
On the other hand, the World Boxing Organisation has already set up a commission the review the fight results. A panel of five international judges has been set up by the WBO that will review the scoring and present their recommendations to the board. Similarly,
promoter for Pacquiao and Bradley Bob Arum has filed a complaint as well against the decision with the Nevada State Athletic Commission to inquire the results. Even Arum believes that the fans have the right to know what went wrong in the scoring of a fight
that was so one-sided.
