What kind of company or person would I hire to haul in fill in dirt and spread it around in the low spots in the yard and level the patio stones? A landscaper or some kind of contractor?

  1. A handy-man would be cheaper for that job.  You can usually find one in the classified adds of your local paper, or ask around.  You can save even more picking up the fill-dirt yourself if you have a truck or trailer.  If it requires more than 5 tons of material, it may be better to just have it delivered and dumped in the driveway temporarily (much easier to scoop up off concrete surface).

  2. a landscaper,  or an excavating contractor could probably do it cheaper...

  3. The answer is yes.

First of all I'm kinda ashamed to admit this.Right now times are hard (very hard) and you may find smaller skidsteer companies your best bet.The larger company have an extremely high overhead which is passed along to customer.

If it were me I would look at craigslist under services,or post an add.The other option would be of course renting a skidsteer yourself and doing. Here the average cost is say $250.00 a day plus delivery.Home Depot does have a good rental program for a little less.

Since I sold my bobcat service I call my local landscape supplier and have them deliver. Then I rent or sub out the work.

    Good Luck
