Prob. Iron Maiden, Ides of March was the first maiden song I had ever heard and right at that moment my life changed forever, because at that moment I knew right away that later on I was going to pick up a guitar and do this. and a few years later that's what I did, and I would not be the guitarist I am today if that moment would have not happened.

where is Guitar V. part 3 Satch? I have been waiting for that. lol

Muse.

They got me away from mainstream music, like Fall Out Boy, MCR, and various pop singers. They probably saved me from becoming emo. I listened to many other bands during that stage (like Nirvana, Pink Floyd and others) but Muse was the one to turn me around.

Anyway, Muse was the band that brought me towards indie. I haven't listened to them in ages, but i thank them for saving my life.

I would have never probably gotten into metal or any other great musical genres if it wasn't for these guys.  Gus G's guitar shredding is pretty sick and Apollo's vocals are great as well.  I thank this band for getting me into other genres of music.

They wrote songs that I can easily relate to, and I always listen to them, especially if I am feeling down.

If I hadn't discovered them then I don't know where I'd be, probably never in a good mood.

Nirvana. Before, I only listened to whatever they played on the radio. But then, I had a friend who loved Nirvana and I decided to listen to them and I loved them. After that, I began searching deeper for new artists and now I listen to completely different music.

Why?

Before I listened to them, I listened to mainstream c**p, rap, and bands like Fall Out Boy and The Fray.

But because of them I discovered better bands and stopped listening to Top 40.

i don't really like sum 41 now but i sometimes listen to their OLD songs...brings back good times

Soilwork........and trust me it was for the better.....they define my music taste and I have discovered other bands (like Scar Symmetry, The Haunted, Disarmonia Mundi, Threat Signal, etc) that all have become some of my favorite bands because of discovering Melodic Death Metal and Soilwork......

I owe a lot to these musical geniuses....

I liked them a year ago, im one of their die hard fans but then i realized i really don't like them (and kinda felt bad about the fact that i was a fan) when i started to listen to melodeathmetal, metalcore bands and heavy stuff. But they are like the band that catapulted me into liking them
