Pyruvic acid loses a molecule of BLANK to produce acetic acid which than enters the citric acid cycle ( Krebs cycle)

  4. Pyruvic acid gets converted into acetyl coA, by losing a molecule of CO2, with the reduction of NAD to NADH2.

    Then this acetyl coA combines with oxaloacetic acid, and gets converted into Citric acid.

    hence, it is the "acetyl coA " that enters the krebs cycle.

    the answer is thus: CO2.
