Fill me in about american highschools?

i'll be moving from England to America next year and was wondering what the highschool will be like.

I'll be 15 in September 2009 [when i move] so what grade will i be in?

I have reason to believe its not like anything that is broadcast on tv programmes.

although my friend who has just transferred from america said that it is a whole different atmosphere around school and the corridors and lockers are a lot bigger.

you will be in the 9th grade.

think about it as the year you would be in england subtract one.

Ninth grade is the UK equivalent of year 10.
