Fillies and mares fill up the line up to contest in the Beverly D Stakes run at Arlington Park on 13 August
The Beverly D Stakes contested at 1 3/16 miles, reels in 11 champion fillies and mares to Arlington Park which is famous for featuring top female turf horses in the world. The platform provided for such production is the Beverly D Stakes which is the counterpart
to the Arlington Million.
The other upside to winning the Beverly D Stakes apart from winning and earning the winning prize is gaining an automatic berth in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf.
The Arlington Park champion trainer Christophe Clement tops the winning tally of the race with three wins and he is not going to rest on that because he has an entry for this year’s edition as well.
There are eleven fillies and mares contesting to win the Beverly D Stakes at Arlington Park, and a little deeper look into this year’s field is required.
The French import Stacelita, will take the field and unfortunately has drawn the rail for the stakes race. She will be representing trainer Chad Brown, and the 3 to 1 favourite will be making her second start on the American soil, first one coming in the
Grade 1 United Nation Stakes at Monmouth Park where she finished third.
Another international raider will take the field, as the South African import eight-year-old mare River Jetez, who is coming off a world tour and stopping and racing at places like Hong Kong, Dubai, Singapore and UK. She is sent off as the second best 4
to 1.
Then we have the lightly raced 4-year-old filly, Cheetah 9 to 2, owned by the champion trainer himself Christophe Clement for owner Robert Scarborough.
The filly has made 3 starts this year and winning 2 out of the 3 races. She is recently coming off a win in the Grade 3 Robert G. d**k Memorial at Del Mar over at a distance of 1 3/8 miles on turf.
Her first win of the year 2011 came in an Allowance race under jockey Garrett Gomez at Keeneland over at a distance of 1 1/8 miles on 23 April, 2011.
The distaff runners include, 6 to 1 favourite to win the race Fantasia, who also went on to win the Modesty Handicap at Arlington Park. The Jonathan Sheppard trained filly seems to have regained her form as she fired a 5 furlong bullet for the Beverly D
Stakes in 1 minute an .03 seconds.
Then we have the 10 to 1 favourite Pachattack who was the victor in the spring event the Arlington Matron, where she pulled out a dominating performance on 28 May, 2011.
Never Retreat, Romin Robin, Eclair De lune fill up the rest of the places to complete the line up for the Beverly D Stakes on 13 August, 2011.
