Filling a punching bag with water?

Is it seriously ok to fill a punching bag with water? Ive read alot of things but not sure if people were joking.

Ive got a cylinder shaped one, its quite big.

  1. IMO, the only way to utilize water is to have a water badder designed for use in a heavybag, vinyl outer bags with the rubber badder inside with a spout for filling is the only feasible way to use water in a bag. Canvas, leather anything without a rubber bladder inside is diaster waiting to happen. Remember, water weighs quite a bit per gallon and figuring how many gallons of water to fill the average 14" x 48" bag will determine final weight. Some water bags weigh as much as 200 lbs. Be careful. and good luck.


  2. You can buy water filled bags. They are not going to develop hard spots like sand filled bags will. Better on your hands.

  3. Well If you fill a large heavy bag with water its probably gonna weigh a lot so yea lol. And hopefully your heavy bag is real durable and doesn't have any rips or tears or anything of that sort to prevent leaking.
