Question:

Filling a script a bit late!

This is probably a stupid question, but I'll ask anyhow. My doc wrote a script for birth control, but had given me 2 months of samples. As I near the end of the 2 months, will the script written at the end of June still be valid to fill in 2 weeks?

  1. Yes, the pharmacist doesn't know when your next appointment is and most birth control scripts are given every 6 months. If the pharmacist asks anything (which he won't) just tell him the Dr gave you samples to try to make sure you could take that birth control and now you need to fill the prescription. About the only thing they can't fill late are scripts for narcotics and some benzodiazapines. I always fill mine a month or 2 behind because of when mynext appointment is scheduled I have enough till just before my appointment. I never have had a problem yet and the pharmacist can always call your Dr if s/he needs to.
