We have an old hot tub that was built in to the ground. it's not a molded one or fiberglass one. We want to fill it in with concreat and put carpet over it. (it's inside). The hot tub does not work and we want to convert the room into somthing else. Again it's a concreat hot tub built in to the ground. Is it possible to just fill it in? If so how do you go about doing it.

  1. Yolur best bet would be to fill it in with sand.  then the put 3 inches of concrete on the top.  you can mix concrete mix in a wheel barrel out side and wheel it into your house and dump it on top of the sand  when you get enough concrete to cover the sand you can then smooth off the concrete with a flat board.    I would recomend mixing only two bags at a time in the wheel barrel.

  2. It may sound easy, but you can't just fill it. You got to make sure the electrical is disconected first, then you are going to want to fill it with gravel not sand because sand can sink and will crack your concrete over time. Gravel acts as a good drainage and a good sturty base to but the concrete on. Then just apply the concrete  and your done.
