Film director benefits?

Does anyone know if a director gets any benefits, like insurance? also, do they have a retirement plan? or is it optional?

It would depend on the company you join, ask them.  If you are "free lance" or self employed, you will have to pay for your own insurance.  I understand that AFLAC is an awesome health insurance company.  Do some research on the internet.

If you have a high profile director and the film would be a loss if he or she is unable to finish the project, there is temporary insurance the producer can take out to protect the investment.
