Filming help??? Thanks!?

I'm going to film the sunset for my latest project. I have a Sony HD camcorder, but I don't know where to point it. Can I point it directly at the sun? Or will that ruin the camera? Thanks for your help, have a great evening, and God Bless!

  1. I don't think you'll have to worry about burning your CMOS chip or LCD screen, but recommend you study your owner's manual - just to be safe.

I also recommend you be prepared to try a couple of different days and locations.  Good luck!

  2. You should be OK to point the camcorder directly at the sun, so long as it's low before you start.  Don't use the viewfinder though, just in case!!!  You can get different effects by playing with the white balance - using an indoor setting will make the sunset appear redder.
