  1. No, the movie is not based upon the truth it is hype and this is not the correct way to influence people.  And you should not force others to believe the way you do, we have the right to make choices and that is what freedom is all about.

  2. That film is sensationalist nonsense, scientifically inaccurate & full of half truths and downright Lie's

  3. I always thought it was illegal to show fantasy fiction religious hoax films in classrooms. If that one is shown the schools should be able to show Mel Gibsons passion of the Christ along side of it. The two of them are just about equally factual.

Communism, like any other revealed religion, is largely made up of prophecies.

    H.L.Mencken

Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.

    H.L.Mencken

  4. The film is full of half truths, half lies, distortions and exaggerations. Man made global warming is a political doctrine not science, we shouldn't be using it to brainwash children.

Below is a report of the court case against the UK department of education.

The UK department of education has been taken to the high court by a father claiming that Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" is unfit for schools because it is politically biased and contains serious scientific inaccuracies and sentimental mush.

The presiding Justice Burton will make a final ruling within a week but has already stated that the film does promote partisan political views. This is resulting in the government education system having to amend their Guidance Notes to make clear that:

1.) The film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument.

2.) If teachers present the film without making this plain they may be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1966 and guilty of political indoctrination.

3.) Eleven inaccuracies have to be specifically drawn to the attention of school children.

    The eleven inaccuracies are:

    1. The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government’s expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.

    2. The film suggests evidence from ice cores covering the last 650,000 years proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases. The court found that the film was misleading due to the fact that the actual evidence from those ice cores demonstrate that the CO2 rises actually followed temperature increases by 800 to 2000 years and so could not have been causative.

    3. The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off events to global warming.

    4. The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that this was not the case.

    5. The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr. Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.

    6. The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant's evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.

    7. The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.

    8. The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.

    9. The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.

    10. The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.

    11. The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government is unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

We should use our resources wisely and clean up after ourselves, but this hysterical propaganda from Al Gore can only discredit the environmental movement in the long run

  5. Why do you think Al Gore was running for president, so many people believe that this guy would help us change the world and global warming. But Bush has got us distracted with Iraq.

I think even if everyone in the world watched this video, that it would only make a slight difference. Most people are selfish and could careless about the next generation.

Global Warming has been a topic on the Congress floor quite a few times and our own leaders just ignore or wont accept the fact of what is happening.

    Is it hotter today?

  6. yes i think they should show this show. it is a good show as it gives ad idea to people that this earth is not to be taken for granted. however the facts of the show, we won't know how true they are because most of us do not have the knowledge to find out the truth in the facts that they provided. But at least now students are more interested in it and soon many of them will be doing something good for the environment.

oh yea, don't be scared. If it will happen, it will happen. be optimistic and try to understand the whole concept of it and do what you can to help the environment. smile~

  7. now watch 'The great global warming swindle'

You should also have a look at this, it totally proves Gore wrong http://www.livescience.com/environment/0...

  8. Hope this makes you feel better.  Al's movie was debunked by the British Court so that it cannot be shown to school children without the disclosure of eleven inaccuracies (lies).  Too bad we don't think as much of our children here in America.  Hooray for the Brits.  Any teacher here who shows this to a child in my family will likely have to have it surgically withdrawn from his sorry ****.

Gore has perpetuated a scam of global proportion.

  9. Yes, and also mention the good work of the Columbia University

    regarding their CO2 Scrubber!

All our world problems: Wars, Environment, Land Seizure, Energy, Power, Corruption etc. etc. etc. all boil down to a simple word:  Greeeeeeeeeed!

    Anthony.

  10. Its a load of tosh ignore it, better still throw it in the bloody bin!

  11. ooh my ... can i ask why this miss informed whatever you want to call it scared you ?

go and look up all the errors in the film , then do some real research on the earth , you then will see global warming is a scam

  12. I have seen it in school and i thought it was a great movie to raise awareness about the environnment...people say global warming doesnt exist and maybe it does myabe it doesnt but i dont think people should keep their old habits i still think its time for a change. the world isnt going to fix itself unless we help it so walking a block to school insteda of driving, or turning off your computer instead of leaving it on standby..simple things can make a difference, why people are just so stubborn is beyond me

  13. Yea, we love to feel safe. We hate to accept anything that challenges our convenient lives and put us in a situation that we may have to accept that our decisions are not ok.

I am talking about more than global warming, I am talking about WHY we live the way we do in the first place. We are like a big vacuum, we suck everything we can to keep us minds off the real problem. Or should I say keep our minds from thinking any thoughts that may make us uncomfortable, possibly like our own misguided pain.

Whether global warming is real, which there is a good chance it is just by our lifestyles, is not the real issue. The real issue is our misguided interpretation of finding happiness in our lives by consuming everything in our path. Anything we can get our hands on we use, including each other.

The real issue is not the earth, it is the people on the earth. Our unhappiness with ourselves and the need to stay away from our thoughts with with useless junk that keeps our unaware minds away from the feelings we deny we have is the root of the problem.

  14. I think it's a good film for exposing people to the basic science of global warming.  Sort of a good introduction, but schools should study environmental science in further depth as well.

  15. i agree with ozmond blood, you really should ignore most of the 'facts' in that film. we were made to watch this film at school but it would have been illegal had they not shown us this double sided sheet which listed all of the misleading and false statements in the film.

    for example,

the polar bear video clip with the polar bear on a tiny ice-berg surrounded by water, that has nothing to do with global warming but was the result of a harsh storm the night before and as for his graph prediction- really i wouldn't let this worry you

  16. The purpose of the film is to frighten you into doing things you ordinarily would not do.

  17. I'm sure watching any good horror film would scare you.  However, man is not causing global warming any more than Jason from Friday the 13th was chained underwater for years and released by accident to come back and murder a bunch of people.

That film IS being shown to many school children.  When I was in school they used to show us film of baby seals being beaten to death with clubs.  Now there is proof that the environmentalists PAID the people in that film to kill the seals (the people in the film don't kill the babies- the adult seals are one of their primary food sources!)  School is supposed to teach fact.  What we should do is fire all the liberal nut job teachers who are showing that film (which has been proven very wrong and very alarmist).

  18. Take it with a large grain of salt.

    Here's some salt for you:
