  1. Forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Next priority has to be Quincey most likely. And try to free up some cap room for anyone else they have outstanding at this poin(Cheli, MaC, Downey, Grigorenko).

I think it is borderline impossible for the Wings to make any big signings for the rest of the offseason.

Tom:  I really doubt Zetts will pull a Federov on the Wings and go for the open market.  I trust Ken Holland to sign him long-term.

  2. zetterberg is going to be the next captain, he's not going to leave.  trades will be made, if necessary, to keep him.

lilja will be dealt, quincey will be signed.

NIPS makes it unnecessary for anybody else to answer the question.

  3. Mats Sundin =)

    Go leafs and Jokerit

  4. filpulla will go to finland

  5. They dont have enough money but to seal up Chelios or Quincey. Rumor is LILJA will be moved to free up 1.3mil more so they can sign MAC, Cheli, Quincey..... I read that right after Stuart and Hossa signed Holland would move LILJA because he was signed just in case Stuart did not sign.

We will see... But barring they dont sign Cheli (which I think they will) someone will be moved.. and Lilja makes the most sense cause he frees up the most money (of the expendible Dmen) and his contract is Cap Friendly to any team willing to give a pick to us for him.

And for you all NON-Fans of Sammy.. according to Babcock he isnt going anywhere because he likes him and what he brings for the minimal salary he is paid!

Anyway.. I do think that the WINGS will sign MAC, Cheli, Quincey and go into camp OVER the Cap Limit by about a million and then in camp determine which player (most likely a Dman since we have 10) will be dealt away to get back under the cap before opening night.

As far as needing money for the deadline... Holland said there is 2 ways to work your team.. Spend the money for a guy like Hossa and have him all year... or keep money back and make a deadline deal and have to give away prospects or picks for a guy that will leave once the season is over (see PItt and Hossa)... He said he elected to go ahead and spend the money early this year. The Wings have so much depth if someone would go down for the season. Most teams would love to have the problem of having to have a guy like HELM or Ericsson be in Grand Rapids for the year because you are so deep their is no roster spot for him. On most teams Ericsson is a 4th Dman and Helm is a 3rd line Center, yet on the Wings they are developing in Grand Rapids. Not a bad problem to have.

PS.. Lets not forget that a guy like Haydar may excel in a Detroit system even though he is small, Hudler did. And then enter Ville Leino, a question mark at this time... but a guy that plays into Detroits system or style of play. Then their is Abdelkador who could step in for a while with injuries.. and Ritola, Mursak, Kindl.

Also for you Wings fans... the signing of Sergei Kolosov (drafted by the Wings 3rd Round in 2004, age 22) to play in Grand Rapids slipped under the radar. He is listed as 6'4 and 184 but is now more like 6'4 and 200. He, in an interview, stated he would play in Grand Rapids for 2 years for the right to earn a spot on the Wings! He is not Russian although his name is an -OV.. he is Belarussian.

  6. zetterberg is goin to get a ton of money or leave.

  7. They had better take care of Zetterberg real soon. With 7 players in the dressing room making more money than him. He just might want to test the waters next year.

  8. They just need to lock up Quincey, having Chelios doesn't do you any good because he probably isn't good enough to make the team and he is old so it serves you no purpose putting him in the minor leagues because he isn't going to be good in the future because he is 45 years old. Also McCarty isn't good, he barely saw the ice in the playoffs and he lost all of his scoring ability, he doesn't help enough to be worth signing for another year. Downey didn't have a goal all season and also isn't good enough to make the team, all they need to do is lock up Quincey and then sit back and wait for another Stanley Cup to fall in their lap. Too bad, the Blackhawks year will come in the next decade hopefully.
