Filter and heater for my 55 gallon tank?

Question

Is it better to have one stronger filter and one stronger heater, or should I get 2 - 30 gallon filters and 2 - 200 watt heaters?

Does it cycle and heat more evenly with one at each end of the tank?

get a 140watt heater and a 30gallon filter they work the best and aren't noisy

I like the whole get two 30 gallon filters and 2 200 watt heaters(get the good kind that will shut off when the temp is reached), these are my reasons why...

If one fails you still have another one going for you and you can replace or fix the one not working without much worrying that your fish are going to die asap...

you can put the heaters at each side of the tank and it won't take as long to heat the water to the proper temp as it would if you only had one heater on one end of the tank

and lastly same thing goes for the filters one on each end of the tank, circulates the water better and more efficiently :)

go and buy a flu-val 105 filter for a 55 gallon tank and also only buy 1 heater at 200 watt if you were to but two thermometers it will over heat your fish plus for a 55 gallon tank only 1 is good for the size of the tank honestly you don`t need to buy 2 hope this helps you out and good luck with your tank and fish

ive got one 300 watt heater and 2--60 fish tank filters the 30 gallon filters aren't really good i know i replaced one in my tank before cause it don't pump lots of water so i would at least get 1-- 55 gallon tank filter and only one heater

It does not make a difference. I would get 1 70 gallon filter and a powerful heater.

The way the heaters and filters are so cheaply made, its best to just get the basic low cost model from walmart because they all seem to malfunction in some way sooner than later and you'll have to buy another one.
